ERP Systems Selection Guide
A vendor-neutral reference for choosing an enterprise system — written because almost none of the available material is neutral.
The idea
The decision comes before the product
Which system suits a company of this size, in this sector, with this complexity, this budget, this timeline, this operating model, and this appetite for owning it afterwards. Feature comparison is the last question in that list, and it is the only one most buyers are given help with.
Why it exists
ERP selection information is overwhelmingly produced by people who sell ERP. That is not a conspiracy; it is a structural fact about who has the incentive to publish. The result is that a buyer researching a decision worth several years of operating disruption is reading marketing.
This exists to give that buyer something to read that is not selling them anything.
What is in it
A structured comparison across the systems a serious buyer actually shortlists — Odoo, ERPNext, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Sage — and, more usefully, the criteria by which the shortlist should have been drawn in the first place.
Who it is for
Owners, chief executives, CFOs, CIOs, IT directors, transformation leads, procurement committees, and the consultants and implementation teams who inherit the decision.
Status
A completed professional work, developed with expert and technical review. Not offered for sale here.
The reasoning behind it is set out under enterprise systems and ERP.
