Real estate

The sector where I have spent the most time, and where the systems question is really an operating question.

What I have seen

Real estate organisations run several businesses at once — development, leasing, facility management, sometimes construction — and frequently try to run them on one system chosen for the largest of them. The result is a good fit for one function and a workaround culture in the others.

What tends to work

Being explicit about which business the core system is for, and deciding deliberately how the others integrate rather than allowing that to be settled by whoever configures first.

Where I have worked

Enterprise systems, smart infrastructure, security systems and facility-management platforms across residential and commercial developments, including a large-scale development in Jeddah, and group-level technology for a multi-sector real estate group.

How I work in this sector is set out under advisory.
